  10. This is the Free demo version of Fields of Battle - Strategic Warfare Series,

  22. Please note: Fields of Battle is also available for Amiga. You may find a
  23.              free demo version for the Amiga on "aminet", check our homepage
  24.              (see below) for more information and download.

  27. 1. INTRODUCTION
  28. ---------------

  30. With this version you have the opportunity to evaluate the game before buying
  31. it. This way you are sure not to buy a pick in a poke. The Free demo version
  32. is not the full game, but will surely be sufficient for you to get an idea of
  33. the numerous features and challenges you will get from registering Fields of 
  34. Battle.
  35.  
  36. When you have evaluated the game, check out the price below. Then you will 
  37. now why you should register Fields of Battle.

  40. To run Fields of Battle you will need the following computer and software:
  41.  
  42.      CPU:              80386SX or better
  43.      Operating system: Windows 3.1/3.11 or Windows 95
  44.      Memory:           4 Mb RAM
  45.      Disk:             A minimum of 10 Mb of free HardDisk space
  46.      Graphics Card:    A resolution of at least 640x480
  47.                        At least 256 colors

  50. 2. INSTALLING AND RUNNING FIELDS OF BATTLE

  54. 2.1. INSTALLING
  55. ---------------
  56.   Note: The vendor might have changed the way the files are distributed, in 
  57.   this case the installation might differ.
  58.   
  59.   1. In DOS: Change to the directory where you want the Fields of Battle
  60.      directory created. Unpack all supplied archives (WITH directory
  61.      structure. If you use PKUNZIP, remember the -d switch).
  62.  
  63.   2. In Windows: Select the group in which you want the Fields of Battle
  64.      icon installed.
  65.  
  66.   3. Select "Add Item" from the menu "File" in your program-manager.
  67.  
  68.   4. Select "Add Item" and click OK
  69.  
  70.   5. Select Browse, locate the directory where you installed Fields of Battle
  71.      and select the file "DEMOFOB.EXE" in the directory where you put the FOB
  72.      files.
  73.  
  74.   6. Write "Fields of Battle" in the name field, and press OK.
  75.  
  76.   7. Remember: The registered version includes an installation tool doing all
  77.      this for you.

  93. When you have sent your registration and payment, you will recieve the full
  94. version of Fields of Battle. This includes:

  96. 1. The full game
  97. The full game will contain all features not available in the Free demo 
  98. version. You can read about them in the on-line help and encyclopedia 
  99. included in this demo version.

  101. 2. All 9 missions
  102. All 9 missions will be available to you, especially the 9th mission will give
  103. you the ultimative challenge in playing Fields of Battle.

  105. 3. Manual
  106. The manual will help you getting started, selecting the right basic strategies
  107. and is a good supplement to the on-line help system.

  109. 4. On-line help system
  110. The on-line help system is an easy and quick way to help you with your
  111. questions when playing Fields of Battle.
  112.  
  113. 5. Encyclopedia
  114. Close connected to the on-line help is the Encyclopedia over Fields of Battle
  115. and World War I. Here you can read about World War I, giving you the
  116. background for the scenarios and how you can use military units in Fields of
  117. Battle.

  119. 6. Tables
  120. The tables are very important when playing Fields of Battle. They describe the
  121. hit probability for the military units in the different geographical types of
  122. areas. The tables are also available in the on-line help, but they are much
  123. faster available on paper, so all tables will be included on paper for easy
  124. reference.

  126. 7. Map
  127. Also the play map will be included on paper for easy overview and strategic
  128. planning.

  130. 8. Installation tool for easy instaling Fields of Battle. For PC users an 
  131. uninstall tool will be included.

  133. 9. For AMIGA users: Versions optimized for different processors.

  136. 3.2. MULTI-USER LICENSE
  137. -----------------------

  139. If you want to use the game on more than one computer you can get a multi-
  140. user license. Simply write the number of licenses you would like to order on
  141. the registration form. You will recieve one copy of the disks and as many
  142. copies of manuals etc. as you ordered. See payment below for prices when
  143. buing more than one license.

  146. 3.3. PAYMENT
  147. ------------

  149. CASH:
  150. You can pay Bevelstone Production I/S ("Bevelstone") in any listed currency
  151. below. Do NOT send us any coins, only banknotes.
  152. The price is listed below. For countries not on the list, select one of the 
  153. currencies listed on the pricelist or below the pricelist and send us an 
  154. amount being equivalent of 250.00 DKK, add 100.00 DKK per each additional 
  155. license (add packing & postage: Europe 20 DKK, rest of world 40 DKK ).
  156. You acknowledge, that Bevelstone has the right to reject the payment 
  157. if the amount is not being close enough to DKK 250.00 (100.00 DKK per each 
  158. additional license), and that Bevelstone alone decides how big a deviation
  159. is accepted. 
  160. Any fees due to returning the payment will be payed by Bevelstone.
